I extended an eagerzeroed disk using vmkfstools but vSphere client still shows the original size

Hi All

We looking at using eagerzeroed disks for Microsoft Clustering

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.5/vsphere-esxi-vcenter-server-651-setup-mscs.pdf

To extend them, I need to powerdown the VM and then use vmkfstools

https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2054563

vmkfstools -X Xg -d eagerzeroedthick DISKNAME.vmdk

The disk is extended as:

  • It shows as extended in the Windows environment
  • vmkfstools shows it is extended:
    • vmkfstools -t0 eagerzeroedthick DISKNAME.vmdk show the extended size

However, the vSphere client shows the disk as the original size!

How do I get vSphere client to recognise the new size of the disk?

Thanks

John

Reloading the VM(s) which have the virtual disks attached (see https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1026043), or opening their Edit Settings dialog, and hitting the Ok button should update the information in the GUI.
