How to export snapshot and disk consolidation events from VSphere 6.7?

I had to move heaven and earth to get Flash working today which was not fun but needed because somebody chose to omit the "Export" function from the HTML5 interface per https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2008204 ("This feature is only present in the Flash Web Client.") argh!

Anyhow, once I finally did the thing I discovered to my dismay that events of type Task and specifically snapshot operations and disk consolidation were NOT being exported to the CSV. How do I get this data to export?

Hey @mikeely,

Never needed to do that but instead of looking at old logs try to take a new snapshot and consolidate it on a new VM and start exporting the events from that virtual machine.

If the events are not there start increasing the hierarchy to see if you are getting the results. I am almost sure that you can get those events only at vCenter level but is worth to try that test.

I actually need the old logs to do a before/after comparison.

Anyone else know how to export this type of log from the web console, also when will this function be available in the HTML5 interface? It's exceedingly awkward to keep Flash alive when all the software vendors are working very hard to ensure it won't run anywhere.

Hey @mikeely,

Sorry I misread the issue you were facing. Definitely there is no way to export the events if you do not have the vSphere Web Client that is discontinued because of the Flash.

Unfortunately there is no way of exporting the events by a GUI method but take a look at the next to do it by using PowerCLI: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-PowerCLI-Discussions/Task-Events-for-a-ESX-or-VM-PowerCLI-s...
