Click on Actions for a Host -> Reconfigure for VSphere HA

The result is as follows -

    ---

    Reconfigure vSphere HA host

    Status:

Cannot complete the configuration of the vSphere HA agent on the host. vSphere HA is missing network configuration information.

    Initiator:VSPHERE.LOCAL\Administrator

    Target:

    Server:139.178.72.20

    ---

Interestingly, the full exact text of the Status: message doesn't appear in a web search, so here's a chance to record the answer.

This is just an evaluation copy of vSphere, vCenter, etc.  No official licenses yet.  That's probably the reason.  However, it doesn't say "license missing".

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    Hi sdarwin5,

Please note that you do not have licenses issues. Everything works with evaluation licenses and actually even better as you got all vSphere features unlocked until you registered proper licenses.

Anyway to solve you problem could you please share your current configuration. The error message you get must indicate that there is something wrong with your network configuration while you're trying to reconfigure HA.

    Hi  Teddy092 ,

    > could you please share your current configuration.

The two machines being configured for HA were launched in separate public /29 subnets.  They weren't in literally the same subnet.  Could be the problem.

    The general configuration was:

    - Launch two c1.small machines on packet.com, with ESXi 6.5

    - Add them to a cluster

    - Click on Actions for a Host -> Reconfigure for VSphere HA

This is a test lab environment. Not production.  Nothing in particular was configured.  No new vSwitches or Port groups or anything were added.  If there were prerequisites, they weren't done.  :-)   STILL, if clicking on something in the UI generates an error ( in this case "Cannot complete the configuration of the vSphere HA agent on the host. vSphere HA is missing network configuration information." ) , it would be great if that would lead to information explaining the error.  Maybe a link to a webpage.  In particular, Which network configuration information is missing? , and what does that mean.

    sdarwin5,

Could you please clarify. You said that both machines are in seperate public network.

So, I assume they are in 2 different physical sites, am I right ?

If that's so, are the current network configuration allow them to communicate with each other and access the same storage ?

Both hosts have to share storage or you'll never be able to use HA.
