Hi everyone
We are still running esx 6, all hosts are patched up-to-date but the VMs only have tools 10.2.5. (which it says is current)
The interoperability matrix suggest that the last version 10.3.10 is supported on esx6 so why is this not available?
Does if have to be installed manually? Why would it not be included in the host updates?
Thanks
so are you saying that it is correct that the vmtools are not included ...
Well, maybe not "correct" from a user's point of view, but it's unfortunately a fact.
The VMware Tools package "tools-light" in the ESXi image (and in the patches) has not been updated since July 2018 (see e.g. https://esxi-patches.v-front.de/vm-6.0.0.html).

I can't tell you for sure why VMware Tools are not updated with all new ESXi patched, but I assume it's got something to do with testing!? I really don't know.
If you want to use the latest supported tools, you can always download them from e.g. https://packages.vmware.com/tools/releases/latest/index.html, and install them manually.

so are you saying that it is correct that the vmtools are not included an I will have to download them separately?
