Failed ESXi upgrade - Cannot Execute Script on Host.

Tried to upgrade ESXi 6.0 Build 13003896 to ESXi 6.5 Update 3 using VUM from a vCenter Appliance 6.5 that we upgraded previously from VSphere for Windows 6.0.   We run Nutanix Model NX-t00-2nl3-g5 ESXi servers.  The upgrade failed with the error "Cannot Execute Script on Host.  I opened a case with Vmware Support and seemed to just get a quick answer to reinstall and then restore the configuration.   Vmware Support told me the problem is due to a corrupt bootbank.   The had me logon to the server and change to the Bootbank directory and run the ls command.  Only 7 files were shown.  On my other two servers that we did not attempt an upgrade on, the same command shows a full list of files, so I was told these servers are ok.   We are a small shop and don't rebuild servers at all, so I would like to avoid it.   Can someone provide some feedback and advice?
