External Drive not detected in ESXI 6.5

Hi IT Experts,

We've one ESXI 6.5.0 Update 1 with 5 guest VM's.

I've connected Western Digital 2TB external drive for the backup purpose but unfortunately it didn't detect by any of the VM's

In the settings I have added the USB controller and USB device though it shows the drive available but not showing in the computer management.  Kindly advice.

Thanks in advance

Once you add the USB Controller you need to attach the physical device (Add>USB device)

The disk isn't detected in the VM, or isn't detected on the host? Can you provide some screenshots?

Pls. find below the snapshot showing Seagate is detected but device manager shown as unknown device.  Though I've updated the seagate drive.

none of the VM's hosts detected the external drive

Tried with Seagate & Western Digital

that screenshot suggests that the VM is indeed detecting the disk, but that there may be driver issues. What OS, and which VMware Tools do you have installed?

Current version of VMware Tools is 10.3.10, would suggest you upgrade to that as a first port of call.
