Error code 0x000000C4 - unable to install 2012 R2 on ESXi 5.0 Proliant DL380 G5

Hi everyone,

Has anyone successfully installed win server 2012 R2 on ESXi 5.0? I tried Recommended and Custom installation, Booting to EFi etc.. but no luck. I don't want to upgrade this ESXi due to this unit is hosting very important local applications.

You may have a corrupt ISO.

Not to worry because that hardware is so old it's not even on the HCL (support for earlier than ESXi 5.5 only). So if you do have "important local applications" running on this, you're way over due for an upgrade. 5.5 has been out of support now for over a year.

You must use at least ESXi 5.5 that is not supported anymore.
