Guys,
Question, I'm novice VMware Engineer here
I'm trying to edit the VMDK File using VI Editor.
sample CLI
vi /volumes/datastore/vmfolder/vmname.vmdk
Upon entering the correct path and file name, I keep getting the word
'vi /volumes/datastore/vmfolder/vmname.vmdk' is not a regular file
Any idea guys how I can override, is it something about the permission? but am using root account, I wanted to edit the VMDK Extent.
Thanks in advance,
JOf
Type the exact string you're issuing as an argument to the vi command.
A complete screenshot of your screen might help us understand where it is going wrong.

The path syntax would something like this vi /vmfs/volumes/datastore/**********.vmdk
Volumes are under 'VMFS' directory which you aren't specifying.
Thank You, I was able to browse the path and edited t VMDK file extent details.
