Edit Vcenter name in runtime setting

Question :

We are using IP address instead of FQDN in Vcenter name field , I need to change it to a FQDN . can I change the Vcenter name to FQDN and what are the effects of changing . (Ex- to replication or SRM or any other services)

You cannot change from an IP to a FQDN once installed. Changing the name under Settings has effect only on the ESXi hosts' connections. The only way to change from IP to FQDN is a redeploy.
