EXSI 6.5 No compatible network adapter found

Hello,

I am starting in the Vsphere and I have a problem with a server where I have installed the Vsphere ESXi 6.5. I have made some passthough modifications for the web-browser and I have lost all the network ports. I have 4 embedded ports and a 4-port network card.

The problem is that as I do not have available ports I cannot access to administrate the virtual machines.

What can I do to enable one port to management?

Thanks.

What is the hardware/model of the Host?

And did you use the VMware ISO or Custom Vendor ISO? Also check on the VMware Compatibility Guide if your hardware is supported.

You can also boot from a Linux LiveCD/USB and edit the esx.conf.

You can this old post as a guide Re: How to disable ESXi Passthrough my findings . I have used the steps to undo a passthrough on ESXi 6.5 and it worked for me but in my case I mounted the SD card which had the ESXi installed into a Linux machine to perform the edit.

Had this same problem today. Found an easier way than the Linux way (especially considering vmfs-tools does not support esxi 6+...)

1. Enable ESXI shell

2. Alt+f1 to access

3. Login with root access

4. Navigate through the files to /etc/vmware

5. vi esx.conf

6. towards the bottom of the massive file you start seeing lines ending in "passthru" change those to "vmkernel"

7. reboot and drink a beer

Hi Milkzzy,

Pealse I have the same problem with my DL360e Gen8.

When I change conf file as you say, all modifications are lost when I reboot.

Have you an idea to solve this.

Thank you very much.
