ESXi won't boot

Last week we've restarted one of our ESXi hosts, which is running version: 6.5.0.update01-5969303.

We've noticed that ESXi won't boot properly, it fails with error:

fatal error 8 (device error) esxi /tboot.b00

Running hardware diagnostics identifies no issues, all tests pass.

ESXi recovery didn't change a thing.

We've disconnected all Storage LUN's, created a fresh boot LUN and performed a clean install, restarted the system and ... we've got the same error.

We've tried to put all BIOS settings to default and boot, this didn't change a thing.

What should i look for next ...

I would suspect that the boot device is defective, or if it is actually OK, it isn't ready for use when then the ESXi server tries to boot from it.

Did you looked through the ESXi logs?
