I assume this is ESXi. Probably you are applying a different version of the product.

if the esxi host is 7.x version, you cannot apply the 6.x license key. You need to follow below kb and you need to upgrade your license key from customer connect portal.

Academic VMware vSphere 7 Essentials Kit for 3 hosts (Max 2 processors per host)

It work the first time on my server then something happened to the server that made it not boot. I removed everything and reinstalled the newest version when I put it in now it gives me this error

Strange that it worked before.
An Essentials Kit consists of different license keys for vCenter Server, as well as ESXi hosts. Can you confirm that you're using the correct one?
