ESXi 6.5: new SAS SSD not detected

Hi,

i installed a new SSD on my server PowerEdge R920, it is detected by the controller, but in my ESXi 6.5 i don't see it.

I sax that there are some articles on this subject like:

- VMware Knowledge Base

- Local SSDs Are Undetectable

- Tag Devices as SSD

- Tag Devices as Local

But the problem is that when i run the below command, the SSD is not on the list:

esxcli storage nmp device list

Do I have a little hope? Smiley Happy

Thanks for any help.

You have to create a RAID0 with your single SSD or you have a PERC which is configurated in the Passthrough Mode and not RAID.

Please try using:
esxcli storage device list

When doing

esxcli storage nmp device list

what you do is list all devices that use nmp multipath plugin

Did you also create a logical volume (VD) on the RAID? It's not the RAID itself which is presented to the operating system, but the VD.
