ESXi 6.5 U2 on HPE Proliant DL360 Gen9 booting wrong version

I have an HPE Proliant DL360 Gen9 Server with 2 x 300GB SAS Drives in RAID1.

Here's what I've done so far:

  • Update the firmware with SPP 2018.11
  • Cleared the RAID configuration and reconfigured a new array.
  • Using HPE Custom ISO, filename: VMware-ESXi-6.5.0-Update2-9298722-HPE-Gen9plus-650.U2.10.3.5.5-Sep2018.iso
  • Mount the ISO using Virtual Media via iLO and boot to the ISO.
  • Install ESXi onto the Primary Disk Volume, install completes "successfully."
  • After unmounting the ISO, I reboot the server.
  • As it starts up, it boots into ESXi 5.5.0 -- yes, that's not a typo, it boots a completely different version of ESXi.

Ideas??

Do you have an SD card plugged into the server's SD card slot with the 5.5 version on it?

Are there other RAID sets/logical volumes configured, which may have/had ESXi 5.5 installed?

There must be a 5.5 installation somewhere with a higher boot preference than the volume with the 6.5 installation.

So there aren't any other RAID sets or volumes.

I'm not sure where, but there is definitely a hidded ESXi 5.5.0 install somewhere.

I ensured the Logical Drive was set as the primary boot device under the RAID Controller settings, as well as in the boot order.

That seemed to do the trick.

Thanks for your help.
