ESX Limitations with a HP Microserver GEN8 - Vcentre Server

Hi,

I have purchased a Microserver Gen 8 with the Intel Celeron 1610. This is my first stage of setting up a home lab and I will be purchasing a 2nd server once I get this configured if it meets my requirements..

This server has the followed CPU

Intel celeron G1610

logical processors 2

sockets 1

cores per socket 2

I have ESX 6.5 with the HPE Customized image installed and I have installed a license which features say it includes up to 8 way virtual SMP.

However when I come to install a vcentre server it says I do not have enough CPU's configured? If I go to the VM and edit settings I cannot change from 1.. So is this a hardware limitation or license limitation?

I am in process of upgrading the processor but if anyone can advise me that would be great.

Many thanks
