Anyone know what does the Optimized Deployment column for under the ESX Agent Manager (EAM)?
I was not worried about this but I noticed that I have ESXi 6.0 hosts have green tick while ESXi 6.5 hosts have red cross, see below screenshot
Hello Bayu,
One of the only references I can find to this parameter is during installation of the Agent VMs:
"Click Update Configuration. The Agent VMs will be deployed on that cluster.
This action triggers the deploy of VRSvApps for each of the ESXi hosts:
Click the Manage tab.
Click the Actions drop-down list and select Enable Optimized Deployment."
docs.hpcloud.com/cg-2.0/CarrierGrade2.0/Installation/CGH-2-install-vsvapp.html
So potentially this option was not selected during deployment.
As to what it means - I honestly don't know and can't figure it out using external-only access, I recall EAM having some real documentation issues, almost lost my mind trying to figure out vSAN-related alerts triggered by EAM.
Another possibility as to why one might get warnings in 6.5 but not 6.0 - are these Agent VMs typically deployed with versions that are intended for different versions and might all have been installed using the 6.0 version?
Bob
Thanks Bob, I actually just found this on an NSX Advanced Troubleshooting course student manual
