ESX 6.7 cut and paste

Hello,

Using VMWorkstation 15.5 to remote connect to VM on an ESX 6.7 U3 server. Some VM are based on Xubuntu 20.0 and cut and paste works.  But for Xubuntu 18 I can't make cut & paste work. That same VM use directtly in VWWorkation works fine.

i tried VMtool from ESX and open-vm-tools to no avail.  Resizing of the desktop works fine. In the vm I can see that  vmtoold is running but the user instance is not. If I try to lanch it manually it just terminate.

Suggestions ?

You have applied the adv. vmx settings for this VM?  Copy&Paste is disable by default because of security.

Note sure what you mean by adv. vmx settings. These are set in the VM's vmx file AND in /etc/vmare/config. 

isolation.tools.copy.disable          FALSE

isolation.tools.paste.disable         FALSE

isolation.tools.dnd.disable         FALSE

isolation.tools.setGUIOptions.enable  TRUE

This is the same setup as for Xubuntu 20.04 guess which works fine.
