VMware support has scripts to collect support-bundles for troubleshooting ESXi functionality or performance.
Has anybody ever created a script when the item that has "problems" is either a single VM or a single datastore ?
Every time somebody posts a problem with a VM - "snapshot-consolidation", missing files ... what ever ...
We start to repeat the instructions over and over again.
What I am looking for is a script that collects the data that we typically need for troubleshooting.
For a VM I would for example collect:
- all vmware.logs
- all descriptor-vmdks
- short hexdumps of the headers of all flat, delta , sesparse vmdks
- all other small text-config files
- list of locked files ...
and so on ...
If anybody has already created or seen such a script I would like to hear about it.
