Display of host shows 12.7TB Capacity but all 6 VMs only use 7.2TB

hello,

the display of the raid5 (8x2TB) shows 13TB and 12,7 seemes to be used.

But there are only 6 VMs with all in all only 7.2 TB

How is this possible?

Now i can't build up another VM as the isn't enough free space

Thanks for any idea

Torsten

Hello.
check if the VMs have snapshots, you could also have snapshots of some backup software.
From an SSH connection to the ESXi host run the following commands and include your results in this post
esxcli storage filesystem list
df -h
esxcli storage vmfs snapshot list

Hello,

yes you are right. In the file explorer i found duplicates of the vmdk files of nearly 5TB. After deleting and rescan the free space is now right. I ssems that this files where build after migrating from physical to virtual VM using the vm tool.

Thanks again and have a great weekend
