Disable USB on ESXi Host

Hi Guys,

I need something to do with my ESXi host which is disable USB,

I did try google, but not found many information to disable the USB services, but i found something, it about  turn off USB arbitration, is this similar thing like we normally do in Windows GPO to disable USB?

Appreciate any input on this.

Thank you.

Your best option is probably going to be to disable it in your BIOS to prevent those ports from even getting used.

Hi daphnissov

Thats the early plan, unfortunately our client would like to disable on OS level only as per their policies, tomorrow i try confirm with them to disable at VM level (Remove USB from VM)  or OS Level (Turn off usbarbitration)

Thanks

Hi,

On ESXi, the USB arbitrator service takes control of local USB devices and passes them through for use by virtual machines.

You should stop usbarbitrator for accessing USB.

Disable USB support on ESXi OS or BIOS, both?
