Different provisioned size reported between vCenters

Hi,

We have two production VMware environments. One is 5.5 and the other one is 6.5, we are moving the hosts and VM to the newer one. All the hosts of both vCenters (of 5.5 and 6.5) share the same datastore that were setup thru HITACHI LUNs Storage.

We have noticed that for some reason the vCenters report different size in provisioned space for each datastore. I'l show some images. It seems free space remians equal for both vCenters.

Is there a reason for that? We already restarted both vCenters but the issue remained. Is there a way to resolve this and if not, which vCenter shall we take in account to get the real info.

Regards,

Hello usuarioITgen,

Are you sure it's not because they are reporting on different things? 'Provisioned' doesn't necessarily equal 'Used', e.g. you could have a Thin-provisioned vmdk with 100GB provisioned but only be using 10GB on datastore.

This can be confirmed (and thus which one to *trust*) from a simple df -h via the CLI on the hosts attached to the storage.
