Different VSphere licenses into same VCenter

Hi there,

We do have a vcenter with 2 datacenters and some hosts inside.

Right now we are using for the hosts vsphere 6 Enterprise plus, but I would like to know if possible to have only for 1 datacenter a standard license and for the other datacenter keep the enterprise.

So right now :

VCenter

Datacenter1

Host 1 (vsphere 6 Enterprise)

Host 2 (vsphere 6 Enterprise)

Datacenter2

Host 1 (vsphere 6 Enterprise Plus)

Host 2 (vsphere 6 Enterprise Plus)

Host 3 (vsphere 6 Enterprise Plus)

What I want:

VCenter (standar license)

Datacenter1

Host 1 (vsphere standard )

Host 2 (vsphere standard )

Datacenter2

Host 1 (vsphere 6 Enterprise Plus)

Host 2 (vsphere 6 Enterprise Plus)

Host 3 (vsphere 6 Enterprise Plus)

Do you think it's possible to do this? maybe Vcenter only allows host inside with the same license.

Thanks.

Hey,

Yes, you can have multiple and different licenses for the ESXi inside the same vCenter.

Remember that its licensed per socket at a host level (vCenter is a dedicated license) just make sure you build the clusters with the same lic otherwise you will have differences witht he capabilities of each host.
