Datastore Configuration

Hey Guys,

I have just installed esxi in evaluation mode,

I currently have 2x480GB SSD's with esxi installed on one.

Just created a Datastore called DATA1 on the empty SSD, Now im wanting to create a second Datastore on the SSD where ESXi is installed as it has ~430GB free space avaliable however I am getting error: failed to create VMFS datastore DATA2 - Cannot change the host configuration.

Also when I try to expand I get the following: Failed to extend VMFS datastore DATA1 - Cannot change the host configuration

Is there a fix for this or can this not be done?

Kind Regards Smiley Happy

By default ESXi installation will create a datastore with the disk you selected while ESXi installation(Will create default datastore with available free space after ESXi installation)  - After installation you can see this datastore on ESXi Web UI

And you created a second datastore( DATA1() with another disk.

Hope you clear with the concept

Upon installation, 0 Datastore's where created. I am not sure that this is the case VysakhNair

Can you please share the screenshots of your disk and datastores.

ESXi will automatically create one datastore with the disk you selected for installation.

As this is fresh installation and you don't have any data, Can you please reinstall on same disk or the second disk and check the status
