I have a Server 2016 template with I have a VM custimisation setting for new SID on deploy. When I deploy a VM from this template it asks me for the name of the new VM. The hostname will take the same name.

I'm trying to use a "custom Sysprep answer file" to do an unsecure join.

But then I don't have the option to tell vSphere to use the name of the VM because the computer name is supposed to be in the sysprep file I supplied.

But then is there a way to change the name dynamically depending on the VM name with a custom sysprep file?
