Creating clone

How to make a copy of a virtual machine? After right-clicking, I do not see the cloning option

You need vCenter to have that option....

Hi

Check if the following VMware KB article helps:  VMware Knowledge Base

Note: To be able clone a virtual machine, you must be connected to vCenter Server. You cannot clone virtual machines if you connect directly to an ESXi host.

Why do you say something like that ???
All ESXi-versions including the free one can work with full clones and linked clones.
It is just not available via the graphical interface.

1. Create an new VM without vDisks

2. From the commandline    vmkfstools -i existing.vmdk ../newvm/newvm.vmdk -d thin

3. Modify the new  VM and select add existing vDisk.  If its a windows GuestOS think about sysprep
