Changing VM's network adapter's port group

Hi,

ESXi 6.5

VCSA 6.7

We added 10G to our ESXi servers. Since there is no way to migrate port groups from the 1G to 10G, I've created new port groups on the 10G vSwitch. In order to move the VMs from 1G to 10G, I think I have to change the port group for every VM's network adapters. Will this cause downtime during the change?

Thanks,

Hi vadm168,

As long as the 10G network adapters have the same connectivity as the 1G, then you can add them to the same vSwitch and then remove the 1G. Unless I’ve missed what you are asking it should be as easy as this.

Kind regards.

Right click on the old port group and select "Migrate VMs to Another Net...". If the new port group has the same connectivity as the old port group that change will be non-disruptive...
