Hi,
I had an USB Disk connected to my host, it was associated and working. The USB went away due to a failure of it and I only see an Inactive or error device called "Local USB Direct-Access (naa.XXX), but I cannot remove it.
Any clue on how to remove the inactive device? I'm using ESXi 6.5
Thanks and best regards.
Jorge
The easiest way - restart the host.
did you check below KB...
Yes, I have read it, but the disk is not present, it appears as Inactive or Error status. If I checked it via "esxcli storage core device list -d naa.XXX" the Status is "dead timeout".
I don't see either a datastore associated to it:
[root@] esxcli storage vmfs extent list
Volume Name VMFS UUID Extent Number Device Name Partition
----------------------- ----------------------------------- ------------- ------------------------------------ ---------
DataStore02 58cfffc0-6523fba8-89fa-002cc8081d9c 0 naa.6006bf1d58d7cba02061fccc9d22785e 1

None of these device is the failed USB disk. So, I cannot remove it from the detached ones:
[root@] esxcli storage core device detached list
NONE
[root@]
The easiest way - restart the host.
That will work?? I have some VMs running and have to stop it all....
Definitely this should work.
It worked!!! Thanks!!!
