Cannot logon to ESXi with vsphere client

Hello, Anyone can give some suggestion for the below issue. I do not have any issue with ping among the server and PCs and dns(working well).  DCUI is running. I can logon to host(ESXi6.7) and vCenter well with browser.  but I cannot logon to the host and vCenter with vSphere Client.  When I try to logon to it, I got the error message. Please see the below screenshot. Thank you

This standalone vSphere client no longer supported. You can only connect to vCenter and ESXi versions up to 6.0 with this client. All vSphere versions after that had completely moved on to Web client few years ago.

Hello

In versions 6.5 and 6.7 we have 2 clients to connect to the vcenter server or ESXi Host :
vSphere web client (Adobe Flash)
vSphere client (HTML5)

In version 7 only vSphere client (HTML5) is available.

vSphere web client (Adobe Flash)
A browser with the Adobe Flash player plugin is required.

Personally I use the following combination, but only to manage VMware, to surf the internet I use a more current browser.

Firefox ESR 38.8 (32bits)

Adobe Flash 29.0.0.113

To login using the vSphere Web Client (Flash). You can instead open a Web browser and enter the URL

https:// ip_address/ui

vSphere client (HTML5)

A browser that supports HTML5 is required

To use the vSphere Client (HTML5) , enter the URL:

 https://ip_address/vsphere-client

You are trying to log in to vSphere Client to a ESXI 6.7 host.
vSphere client was deprecated on vSphere 6.0, anyhtin older than vSphere 6.5 is not compatible.

simply type https://HOSTIP/ui into your browser and you will be able to log in

Okay, let me give you an alternative:

Install adobe flash player
Go to %windir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
Open the file mms.cfg with notepad and edit the following lines:
EOLUninstallDisable=1
EnableAllowList=1
AllowListPreview=1
AllowListUrlPattern=https://FQDN/
Replace the FQDN with the name of the appliance or URL to access, for example a domain. AllowListUrlPattern=https://*.DOMAIN.com/

Configure Chrome browser
Go to %localappdata%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\System\mms.cfg
Configure Edge
Go to %localappdata%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default\Pepper Data\Shockwave Flash\System\mms.cfg

If system folder does not exist you should create it.
Copy this file %windir%\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg to system folder

If your browser is open, close it before starting.

Here you have flash plugin:

Either way, the /UI interface is HTML5, it's also called vSphere Web Client.

Hi @gciscol ,

Thick client was last supported with version 6.0 and can no longer be used.

To connect to vCenter and ESXi hosts, you can connect only using the web interfaces.

Thank you very much for your fast reply. I like to use vSphere client. Can I resolve the issue if using thin client or changing version of vSphere client? Which version can work for this issue?

Hi e_espinel

To login using the vSphere Web Client, it looks like the browser needs to be updated. and Flash Player no longer support this function since beginning of this year. Do we have another replacement to login using the vSphere Web Client in addition to  vSphere Client?  I tried the latest version of Firefox, it still cannot work again.

Thank you

Hey, hope you are doing fine

In the following screenshot you can see I'm accessing an ESXI 6.7 U3 host using chrome.
What you need to do is type HTTPS://$IPOFYOURHOST/UI --> This is called VMware host client

Hi nachogonzalez,

I do not have any issues to login to host and vCenter using the url that you mentioned, except to access the page like the below (vSphere Web Client) since the beginning of this year(Adobe already block the service).  Not sure if we can find replacement to Flash player, so that we can still use the page below

Do you have a need to use still the flash based web client? Any features that you are missing in the HTML5 client?

Thank you all.  Some of terms got me confused. now I think I already understand and resolve the issue after reviewing your posts and some documents. Since i am the beginner, i need to watch and review some of the older documents and video. That is why i need to setup the web client.
