Cannot change hard disk for vm

Hi VM is installed at ESXi. it has 60G hard disk. When it is changed to 80G, I got the below error message. The hard disk has enough space, but why it has this error message. Anyone can share some experience? Thank you

Ciao

do you have a VM snapshot? if yes, before increasing the disk size you need to remove the snapshot.

Thank you very much for your reply!

It had VM snapshot, but after I deleted it and rebooted it, the issue is still there. Any other suggestion? Thanks

Hi

you can send me the screenshot of the disk configurations of the virtual machine and can check if the Virtual Machine disks consolidation is needed.

Not very sure if the below is disk configuration. Please let me know what command is needed for this.

but I can see some folder is full. if this is not good, how to clear some debris to free up some space.

The VM is assigned 60GB

Ciao

but the error:

Failed to reconfigure virtual machine .......Invalid operation for device 3

does it still appear when you try to enlarge the disk from the WEB console of the ESXi host?

The information I need is not the filesystem status of the linux VM, but the details of the virtual disk.

You can see these details from the WEB console of the ESXi host by editing settings of the VM and you have a special part that shows the size of the disk.

Remember that once you have enlarged the disk at the ESXi Host level you will have to enlarge the filesystem inside the VM (to do this having LVM active you have to perform a series of steps that you can find in this link Extend LVM (disk space) - School of Computer Science (carleton.ca))
