When trying to take snap shot, can't type in a window to type snapshot name and description therefore unable to take a snapshot.

Can't type anything under "Name" field to start snapshot.
What version of vCenter and what browser are you using? You have not provided us with any essential details to help you.
vCenter Server Essential and using Firefox.
