Can't copy and paste between Windows guest and host

I created a VM guest by virtualizing my laptop.  I then copied this to another of my laptops and I'm not running it in VMWare Workstation 15.1

Both my host and guest are Windows 10.

I can't copy and past files into the guest from my host and I'm guessing it's because VMWare Tools isn't installed (at least I think that's the issue).

When I to install them the option is grayed out and I can't.

Is there something special/different about an image that comes from a clone?  Neither had a DVD so neither can be fixed with the trick I've seen posted about playing with the CD/DVD options.

Hello,

First, sure the issue is from VMware Tools.

Then, in order to install the VMware Tools you have to attach a CD\DVD to this VM. once done i guess the Install VMware Tools will be allowed.

Otherwise and if you have another normal VM with CD\DVD, mount the VMware Tools installation to it, go to the mounted drive copy the content and share it with the primary VM. On your VM start a normal installation, once succeeded your problem should be solved.
