Can I use sudo in ESX?

Hi folks,

Today we use root user on our Hypervisor servers. Is it possible to use sudo user? Also, is there any risk in putting the root user in password vault?

Tks.

ESXi server does not have sudo command. Also putting the password in vault is completely based on your environment and how secure the vault is.

Hi Tks,

I would suggest to better integrate AD with your vsphere environment, so each individual login to host with his own credentials rather logging with root.

This will also help to trace who made the changes. Please follow the below link to integrate AD.

How to join ESXi to AD for Improved Management and Security
