Apply ESXi6.7 patches using VUM and baseline

Currently running this version:

ESXi 6.7 P01

ESXi670-201912001

12/05/2019

15160138

vCenter Appliance 6.7 Update 3l (6.7.0.46000)

2020-11-19

17138064

17137327

4 hosts running HPE image

I created a baseline with the following criteria:

Vendor: Any

Product: EmbeddedEsX 6.7.0 & esx 6.7.0

Severity: Any

Category: Any

No Date filter

Attached the baseline to a host and clicked 'Check Compliance'.

Selected Baseline to view patches listed.

Applied 'Status' filter for 'Missing' patches.

Total Missing patches are 49.

The list of missing patches includes Complete Update 2 and Complete Update 3.

Questions:

  1. Is it safe to just apply the entire batch of 49 at once (stage & remediate)? Pre-check remediation does not show any issues and shows 'Ready to remediate'.
  2. Why are the Complete Update 2 and Complete Update 3 listed if I'm already above those patch versions? (attached report showing missing patches)
  3. Any other tips to patching ESXi that is this far behind on HP hosts?

Hi,

I guess, there is no problem.

The questions being asked are in the lower part, i think you may have missed them.

Are you saying there is no problem applying all updates?

Remove the baseline and attach latest HPE Customized Image as baseline.

Then check the results.
