After the virtual machine migration is completed, the virtual machine network cannot be pinged

Before migration, the virtual machine network is normal and can be pinged。

Migrating virtual machines from one exsi host to another

The virtual machines network will be down for a while,About a few minutes, up to 20 minutes, and then it's done automatically

or login by vcenter console,Ping the gateway from inside the virtual machine to the outside,or resrat network service,it will be normal.

I suspect it is the ARP problem(the function of MAC address triggers ARP update) of Huawei switch.

Have you encountered it? thanks

Only a guess. Please check the "Notify Switches" settings on the virtual switch.

see e.g. The vSwitch “Notify Switches” setting – Rickard Nobel

Check the Port Security Configuration Commands of your switch.

User as reference, but check your model:

(Port Security Configuration Commands - CloudEngine 12800 and 12800E V200R002C50 Command Reference - ...

Some switches keep the mac table static after their learn the MAC so when the vm is migrated that table is not updated (by the security config) and thats why the vm doesnt work.

I had this issue but with other switches and was related to this. (Cannot be certain if this is exactly your problem but at least is worth looking into)

Hope that helps,

Cheers

Thank you for your reply。

I checked the notify switches setting, it's YES。

Will it not work?
