Adding another NIC to an ESXi 6 host

Hi,

We are installing a VoIP system over summer and I need to add additional NICs to two of our hosts.  The hosts in question are identical Dell R630s and currently have one Broadcom BCM 5720 QP daughter card and one Broadcom BCM 5719 QP NIC.  I have new BCM 5719 QP NICs to add to these hosts but am unsure whether or not ESXi will automatically detect and add them.  As there are already BCM 5719s in each host am I safe to assume that they will be auto detected and added to the NIC pool ready for adding to a new vSwitch?

Thanks for any help or advice, this is the first time I've needed to add any physical hardware to an ESXi host so I'm unsure of the process.

Cheers,

Kevin.

Yes, if the nic driver is already in place. ESXi should detect the card. In your case, you already have the similar NIC which is working fine, so it will be good to add the card.

You will see these cards under host --> configuration --> network adapters list

Later they can be added to vSwitch manually.
