About manual installation of vmware tools

Hi,

In a vsphere 6.7 upd 2 infrastructure, I had to install a windows 2003 server.

I know that this version of windows is not fully compatible with vsphere 6.7.

But unfortunately I am forced to use it in order to run an application that the software manufacturer has not yet updated.

My problem is this.

When I try to install Vmware Tools, I have the error that the application was not found.

Is it possible to do a manual installation by downloading the tools?

Has anyone already fixed the problem?

Hoping for help, best regards

Gaetano

Hi Iwawa and welcome to the community!

As you have pointed out Windows 2003 is legacy and so support with newer ESXi versions is almost non-existent (VMware Compatibility Guide - Guest/Host Search). Having said that you can download VMTools 10.0.12 which support Windows 2003 on ESXi 5.5 and later: VMware Tools 10.0.12 Release Notes

You will find these from https://my.vmware.com

Kind regards.
