6.7 U2 - Win 2016 server - The required VMware Tools ISO image does not exist or is inaccessible

Hi,

I am on a server that is running ESX 6.7 u2 (the newest build), I have a few VMs based on Windows Server 2016. When I try to update VMware tools from the Web GUI, I get an error of

"The required VMware Tools ISO image does not exist or is inaccessible"  and of course it fails.

Is this correct or is there a problem here ?

I have some strange stability problems on 2 of these VMs and I wanted to make sure that the VM tools were up to date to make sure that was not a problem.

Thanks

The ESXi image that you have installed was a no vm-tools image, you can reinstall ESXi with another image which has vm tools or follow the below instruction for install VMware Tools manually:

To download the VMware tools packages for various ESX/ESXi manually, see VMware Operating System Specific Packages.

To download the VMware Tools ISO image:

Navigate to the link http://packages.vmware.com/tools/esx/index.html.

Click the link for your version of ESX/ESXi.

Click the link for your version of guest operating system.

Download the VMware Tools ISO image and attach it to the CD of the virtual machine

Thanks,

I downloaded the tools package you said, Next time I am doing updates, I'll grab a updated ISO with the tools so I can be all set going forward, as it I might need other OS's than Windows on this server.

Funny I thought I had the full ISO when I upgraded this server, oh, well...
