2 separate VMware vSphere licenses FOR a 2-socket Server

We have a Fujitsu with 2 sockets and purchased 2 VMware vSphere STD licenses for each socket. After we activated the 1st one and received the corresponding key, when we try to use it, we get the following error message under ESXI :

This host has more sockets (2) than the provided license is valid for (1), please provide a different license.

PS: I still haven't activated the 2nd License.

In your MyVMware  portal you can divide and COMBINE your licenses. You have to combine your 2x1 cpu lics to get a new key which includes 2 CPU than.

Thats similar to the case when you have a need for an older vSphere version like 5 but you can only buy vSphere 6 today. The solution than is to perform an downgrade within the MyVMware portal.
