12TB datastores fine for defaults?

I have VMWare 6.5 and a large SAN that is all SSD.  I have traditionally used multiple 12TB VMFS 5 datastores.  I am about to start creating new ones with VMFS6.  Is 12TB fine for a default?  Should I go smaller or larger if I have plenty of space?  I do not really care about what is possible, but did not know if anyone has ever seen any disk checks or issues when using larger datastores, etc. Thanks

The general consensus is to pick between 1-4 or 6 TB in size.

Depends a lot of what environments are you going to run on them. But i'd rather have more LUNs with smaller size, which gives you also more flexibility. With more LUNs you can benefit also of Datastore Clusters, ofc depending on your licensing.

Please check the thread Should we create a single LUN with 14TB in size ? It might give you more insight as to why smaller-medium sized LUNs are preferred over one big datastore.

Cheers,
