vSAN RAID5 without All-Flash but Hybrid configuration

Hi everyone,

does vSAN allow RAID5 (with ftt=1) on hybrid configuration by specifying the FTM policy on "Capacity" ?
Because we can read RAID5/6 erasure coding is only available on All-Flash, but we don't especially wan't to do erasure coding. So I didn't find that we can do a normal RAID5 without erasure coding (so by specifying Capacity for the FTM) available on hybrid ?

Thank you in advance.

@kevincsf  No, unfortunately you cannot implement RAID5 Storage Policies on a Hybrid infrastructure and for very good reasons - this would likely not function well and thus is not possible to be enabled nor supported.

There is no such thing as RAID5 minus the 'erasure coding' part as you indicated as they are very much the same thing in how this is implemented in vSAN:

OIk thank you so much for your reply, you've just confirmed your doubts about RAID5 on hybrid configuration.

Have a great day sir.
