vSAN Policy change

Hi all,

Please help me to understand below vSAN queries.

1. If I want to change the FTT for a single workload VM or multiple VM´s, do I need to change vSAN policy at the cluster or VM level?

2. vSAN, Esxi host storage are locally attached storage and NFS is network storage type?

3.  In order to optimize the VM workload performance, shall we need to validate the vSAN raw storage?

Regards

PK

that is exactly what it does, most vSAN documentation can be found here: core.vmware.com/vsan

I am not sure I understand all the questions, but here we go anyway:

  1. You can simply create a new policy and assign this policy to that VM for which you want to change the FTT. If you want to do the same to a select group you can either create a new policy and assign, or if ALL VMs under a policy need to follow the new FTT then you change the existing policy
  2. vSAN uses local devices indeed, NFS is network based... meaning NFS is provided through an external storage system over the network
  3. this question I don't know what you mean at all

Hello,

Thanks for the answer.

So, for question 2, vSAN creates a single pool of cluster from all the local storage attached?
