vSAN @-Node and and VSAN static route

I am researching on 2-Node VSAN networking and have a question , I hope someone will shed light on this.

We will have 2-Node ESXi hosts in a small office  and a witness appliance in the HQ cluster.

I am planing to put the witness on the management network which has inter-site routing in place.

I am reading a blog post in which they mentioned about VSAN routing as below,

esxcli network ip route ipv4 add –n remote-network -g gateway-to-use

Should we need that routing on the VSAN data nodes if we use witness appliance?

Hello mutthu

This is only applicable if there is no direct route the Witness from the configured vsan vmk e.g. if you wanted to just have vsan data traffic on the data-nodes and not split out the witness traffic on its own vmk, then you would need to configure a static route for traffic destined for the witness to go out via the Management network.

The alternative to this is to just configure the witness traffic on the Management network.

Configure Network Interface for Witness Traffic
