vCenter and vSAN compatibility


Good morning,

during the vSAN configuration on ESXi 6.7 U3, we have a problem with the version of vCenter (impossible to claim the disk). During the installation, the  VCenter don't chek the verion of ESXi? Because we don't received any error message.

Not sure I understand the question. Which version of vCenter Server are you running?

The version of VCSA is 6.7.0-13010631.

After the installation we have a problem with the GUI in order to manage the claim of disk.

What you are doing is not supported. vCenter Server always needs to have the same, or a higher version, then the hosts you are managing. So please update vCenter Server to Update 3 as well.

Not sure what the exact question is, however like Duncan said, your vCenter Server version always needs to be higher or equal to the version that is on the ESXi hosts. If you don't do this, "unknown" issues will arrise. I've seen multiple weird issues in the GUI or on vSAN functional level when a mismatch was in place.

the vcenter installer under cdrom\vcsa-ui-installer\win32

no it doesn't check it, it is a VM deployed on a hypervisor, it says nothing about the hosts it will be managing. You will need to make sure you are using the right versions.

I think is better to insert this check before configure the Cluster for the  vSAN.

What versions of vCenter and vSAN (and every other VMware product) are supported from an intercompatibility perspective are clearly noted in our documentation e.g.:

Validating that all products in use in conjunction with one another is the responsibility of the system administrator.
The issue you are facing here is noted here (same deal with 6.7 U3), upgrade your vCenter - if you require to add capacity to the cluster immediately then add via esxcli should work without issues, but do upgrade the vCenter as otherwise things like vSAN Health won't work reliably:
