is it compatible to upgrade only one ESXi host in a vSAN?

i mean, assume that i have a vsan cluster of consistent esxi hosts verison, say 6.7, 13004448.

what would happen if i upgrade only one(or a few) esxi host's version to, for example, version 6.7 u3 build 17700523 and keep other hosts' version remain the same?

(assume that my vCenter server already got latest version to support the esxi version that I mentioned above)

I did check this doc https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/6.7/com.vmware.vsphere.virtualsan.doc/GUID-ABABC0DF-2519-4... but don't think that this can clarify my doubt.

Will my vsan cluster become "degraded", malfunction or experience data loss?

I found these results from product matrix as shown in figure below, and guess the vCenter version is the key to determine which version of esxi and vsan can be supported??

@nblr06, More than happy to help.

Yes, you can add/create/recreate Disk-Groups on an updated host as long as the virsto legacy on-disk format configuration has been set appropriately (e.g. set to the highest version the lower update hosts can use):

@nblr06 , Yes the vCenter needs to be updated first (but only really dictates functionality from a monitoring perspective).

Updating 1 node at a time is fine and supported, only thing to watch for is to not create/add/recreate any Disk-Groups with later ODF format while running with mixed versions:
