Hi,
I am also interested to make use of NVMe devices. What brand you plan to use. ?
Thanks,
Hi
Intel P3700
+1 for the P3700.
I have reached out to dell, intel, and vmware, and can't get a good answer of when it will be in the HCL.
I think the NVM express driver CD was released on the 10th in VMware downloads for 5.5. I would think that pretty much means its supported.
Heads up folks.
Just because a device is supported on vSphere, don't automatically assume that it is supported with VSAN.
"ALWAYS" check the VSAN HCL/VCG for device supportability - http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=vsan
I just searched for NVMe - and I don't see anything there. So be careful.

David,
I have a P3700 and have come to my end trying to find the process to get it to load in ESX. I'm using 5.5 and I see that you have gotten it to work. If you would be so kind to forward anything you used to get it to work I would appreciate it.
I've used FusionIO and some others but intel seems lacking on the driver side.
Thanks
Hi
Download the driver from vmware. Load it on the esxi
Then we have to mark the intel nvm as a sss using esxcli and you should be able to use it as ssd cache

Please note that the device is still NOT on the HCL. If you have any problems that could be related to the use of this device then VMware support may not be able to help you.
Duncan,
Thank you. In our case, it is just for testing proposes
Btw,
Do you know the current status of the LSI 3008/3108.
They are not in the vsan HCL but other models (93xx) from LSI using the same Chip 3008/3108 effectively appear

I just received this from my Intel rep
They are now officially supported for VSAN.
