VSAN disk group design

Hi all,

I have a VSAN full SSD cluster with 4 hosts that works perfectly, here is the actual setup

Host 1 : 3 disk groups (1 SSD240GB + 1 SSD480GB)

Host 2/3/4 : 2 disk groups (1 SSD240GB + 1 SSD480GB)

I would like to add storage to the VSAN, and add 1 SSD 960GB to each disk group, I would also remove the 3rd disk group on Host 1

so the final setup would be :

Host 1/2/3/4 : 2 disk groups ( 1 SSD240GB + 1 SSD480GB + 1 SSD960GB)

For next upgrades I will add only 960GB SSDs

What do you think ?

Thanks for your help !

Regards

Eric

Hello Eric,

Welcome to Communities.

After adding the specified capacity drives, your Disk-Groups would still have a very healthy cache:capacity ratio so I don't see any issue from that perspective. The changes you outlined would also homogenise the layout of your cluster which is something we always advise for numerous reasons (e.g. resiliency, performance etc.).
