VSAN Observer - Got exception: NoMemoryError: failed to allocate memory

Hi All,

I've got 2 VSAN clusters, one virtually doing very little and VSAN observer works fine. (3 hosts)

Another cluster, I'm getting "Got exception: NoMemoryError: failed to allocate memory" (10 hosts)

Consequently, this show no data when I access VSAN observer via http://<vcenter>:8010

I've added plenty of memory to the VCenter server VSAN observer with no success in fixing this problem. Task manager shows 3gb of ram free.

Both are Windows VCenter 5.5 U2 running Server 2012 R2

I'm wondering if anybody has any workaround to overcome this? I don't think so the data returned is all that huge as the collection shows only 2099kb returned.

I'm assuming that this error is occurring when you start RVC.

Since RVC is running on your vCenter server (by default), it might mean that you need to add additional memory resources to your vCenter.

An alternative is to deploy a new vCenter server VM, and not to use it for VC tasks but just use it for RVC and VSAN Observer activity.

The error is when RVC is collecting stats and processing it.

I've now deployed a dedicated vApp for RVC / VSAN Observer use and works a treat!

Thanks for the tip!
