VSAN 6.2, Will a node in maintenance-mode still service IO ?

Small question: if a VSAN Node is put into maintenance mode, with "no data migration" selected, and just sits there (not rebooted or anything), does it still actively participate / does it still service IO normally ?
I've observed if a node is placed into maintenance mode (doesn't matter which migration is selected), it doesn't participate in I/O once it has entered maintenance mode. The components on the maintenance mode host will be marked absent and start the default absent rebuild timer where objects rebuild in 60min.
