VSAN 6.2 - 2 Node Robo Network requirements

We've 2 VSAN ready nodes & since we're on vCenter 6.0 we'll be going to VSAN 6.2 & not 6.5 or 6.6.

So let's not talk about direct connect option.

Now with what I've I'm planning to build :-

Site A: 2 node Robo VSAN cluster

Site B: Witness node in remote site.

My question is I don't have 10G network switches on Site A so can we use 1G connectivity between the 2 VSAN physical nodes or it has be a 10G connectivity?

What are the network requirements for :-

Between 2 VSAN Physical nodes at Site A ?

Between Witness at Site B & the Physical Nodes at Site A ?

Has someone implemented 1G connectivity between data nodes on Site A(ROBO)

Thanks

Hello Sam,

Are you planning on configuring an All-Flash(AF) or Hybrid cluster?

If AF then no this will very likely not function well, if at all (and thus is unsupported with good cause).

Whether this will work (well) with Hybrid ROBO is very much a your-mileage-may-vary scenario.

The minimum *supported* network requirements for ROBO are:

- 1.5 Mb/s minimal bandwidth

- Host to Host is <5ms

- Witness to host latency is a maximum of 500ms RTT

It's a Hybrid cluster.

I did read that document but when they say 1.5Mb/s minimal bandwidth, is that between host to host or between hosts to witness?
