VM storage utilazation on vSAN datastore

- Two-node vSAN cluster (with a witness appliance)

- Primary level of failures to tolerate = 1

- RAID-1

I am moving a VM from a non-vSAN datastore to a vSAN datastore. The VM's storage usage on the original datastore is reported as 387.24 GB. While preparing to move to vSAN datastore with thin provisioning it says that "vSAN storage consumption would be 1 TB disk space and 0 B reserved Flash space." Why? Why not 774.48 GB (due to FTT1\RAD-1)? What will use up the other 225.52GB?

Hello!

Have you checked existing snapshots in the VM?

Another thing involved in space utilization is the swap file. It is also affected by FTT1.
